FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for the quantitative determination and characterization of fluids, saturating porous geological materials, using laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy, LIBS. Method for analyzing a geological sample includes: a) subjecting the fluid composition of at least one location of a geological sample to several consecutive laser radiation measurement pulses, each measuring pulse at least partially evaporates and turns part of the above sample into a plasma, causing a radiation spectrum; b) detecting the emission spectrum after the measuring pulses using a spectral detector to collect the original spectral data; c) pre-processing the original spectral data obtained from the spectral detector to convert the original spectral data into a form for subsequent analysis; and d) determining at least one fluid parameter using source spectral data obtained from a spectral detector.

EFFECT: method provides an increase in the speed and reliability of the evaluation of fluid properties of a geological sample.
