FIELD: manufacturing technology.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the production of sintered tool material based on aluminum oxide. Material consists of spherical alumina grains ranging in size from 0.01 to 0.4 mcm with a thin nickel film on the surface of each grain with a thickness of 0.1÷0.4 of its size. Method of obtaining the material includes obtaining powder, pressing and sintering the powder. Powder is obtained in the form of spherical alumina grains ranging in size from 0.01 to 0.4 mcm with a thin nickel film on the surface of each grain with a thickness of 0.1÷0.4 of its size by condensation of aluminum oxide grains from the vapor phase of aluminum oxide with cooling in a stream of air to a temperature of 1400–1300 °C and the subsequent transportation of cooled grains by a stream of air through the vapor phase of nickel with nickel condensing on their surface.
EFFECT: provides increased strength of the fine-grained structure of the material.
