FIELD: oil and gas industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of oil refining and petrochemistry, in particular to methods of desulfurizing crude oil with hydrogen peroxide using catalytic systems based on inorganic and organic acids, followed by isolation of oxidation products of sulfoxides and sulphones. Described method for desulfurizing crude oil, comprising oxidizing oil with a catalytic oxidizing composition comprising hydrogen peroxide of a concentration of at least 20 % by weight, taken in a 2–6 times molar excess with respect to one mole of sulfur in the oil, and an organic or mineral acid having pKa of 3–4.76 and not decomposing hydrogen peroxide taken in a molar ratio of 0.2–5 with respect to one mole of sulfur in the oil, with one part of the catalyst composition taking from 10 to 500 wt. parts of crude oil, obtained mixture is treated by constant stirring with a magnetic stirrer until the oxidation reaction proceeds, then the residues of the oxidizing composition and the oxidation products are removed from the reaction mixture.
EFFECT: high degree of sulfur removal from crude oil, oxidation of difficultly oxidized sulfur compounds, minimal negative effects on oil composition, simpler hardware design, reaction under mild conditions 20–70 °C, and also the possibility of extracting a concentrate of sulfoxides and sulfones as a valuable product.
