SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine and can be used in vascular surgery in the treatment of carotid stenosis. Degree of artery calcification is determined by the results of computed tomography (CT) in the conditional cross section of the carotid arteries, which has the highest number of calcinates. Perform carotid angioplasty with stenting (CAS) under the value of the degree of calcification up to 30 %. In the presence of calcifications from 31 to 70 %, the choice between CAS and carotid endarterectomy (CEE) is taken as equivalent. With calcification above 70 %, CEE is performed.

EFFECT: method allows to achieve individualization of the approach to each patient on the basis of CT data performed before the operation, accurate and simplified calculation of the degree of calcification, followed by determination of the optimal surgical treatment, thereby reducing the risk of perioperative complications.
