METHOD AND OPHTHALMIC DEVICE WITH ACTIVE AGENT RELEASE SYSTEM Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC A61F9/00

Abstract RU 2677538 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medicine. Ophthalmologic device with an active agent release system is arranged to dispense an active agent, comprises a substrate having one or more containment cells, wherein at least one of the one or more containment cells contains an active agent enclosed by at least one or more biocompatible metal caps bonded under stress to the surface of the substrate, and an energy source in electrical connection with an activation element configured to conduct an electrical current to at least a portion of the metal cap upon receipt of an activation signal, a micro-processor in electrical connection with the energy source, one or more sensors in connection with the microprocessor. Electrical current and tension cause the metal cap to fold and, thus, open the active agent to the ophthalmic environment of the user. Microprocessor includes a timing element configured to provide an activation signal that causes at least one of the one or more biocompatible metal caps to fold and, thus, release the active agent to the ophthalmic environment at a predetermined time.

EFFECT: use of this group of inventions will allow the delivery of discrete doses of drugs to an ophthalmic area for significant periods of time while ensuring safety for the user.
