FIELD: lighting.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to vehicle illumination systems. In the method, the vehicle illumination device contains a photoluminescent portion and a light source. Said photoluminescent portion is located on the inner surface of the cover of the engine compartment of the vehicle. Said light source is located near the cover and is configured to emit light of the first wavelength, directed to the photoluminescent portion. Said photoluminescent portion is configured to convert the first wavelength to a second wavelength greater than the first wavelength to illuminate the compartment. Additionally the light source is configured to emit light of the first wavelength in the compartment in order to illuminate the second photoluminescent portion, located separately in the compartment, converting the first wavelength to the third wavelength.
EFFECT: improved ambient and work light quality.
