SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in preparation of sunscreen cosmetics. In the method, the particulate metal oxide includes a cationic portion, which includes a zinc portion, a first iron dopant portion and a second manganese and copper dopant portion. Said zinc portion is about 99 % by weight or more of the cationic portion. Further, the weight percentage of the second dopant portion is more than two times the weight percentage of the first iron dopant portion.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to obtain a component of sunscreen compositions that provides improved performance with respect to the absorption of the UVA portion of the electromagnetic radiation spectrum.
