FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a filter medium for respiratory protection. Filter medium includes material based on manganese oxide doped with iron, having average pore size (determined by BJH method) in range from 1 to 4 nm and surface area (determined by BET method) making at least 300 m2/g, or at least 350 m2/g, or at least 400 m2/g. Material can be made by a method of redox co-precipitation in an aqueous solution at low temperature or a method of thermal decomposition of oxalates. Filter comprising said material comprises housing having airflow inlet opening and airflow outlet opening, wherein the filter medium is located between the air flow inlet opening and the airflow outlet hole.
EFFECT: material has high porosity and surface area for more efficient absorption of hazardous gases.
