FIELD: heating equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a process for the polymerization of ethylene. Process for producing polyethylene by slurry polymerization of ethylene and, optionally, one or more C3-C10 alpha olefins is described. Polymerization is carried out at a temperature of 60–95 °C and a pressure of 0.15–3 MPa in the presence of a catalyst for the polymerization of ethylene in at least one reactor system. Reactor system contains a polymerization reactor and one or more first heat exchangers located outside the polymerization reactor. Resulting slurry is taken from the polymerization reactor and cooled with a refrigerant in one or more first heat exchangers at a temperature of 29–40 °C. Then the cooled slurry is returned to the polymerization reactor.
EFFECT: improving the efficiency of the heat exchanger.
