FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of ethylene polymerization. Described is a method for the preparation of polyethylene by polymerization in an ethylene suspension in one or more C3-C10 alpha-olefins. Polymerization is carried out at a temperature of 60–95 °C and a pressure of 0.15–3 MPa. Polymerization is carried out in the presence of a polymerization catalyst in a cylindrical polymerization reactor. Reactor has internal diameter D and is equipped with an agitator to stir contents of the reactor. Ethylene is fed into the reactor by an ethylene injection system. Injection system comprises one or more nozzles passing through the reactor's lower cover or through the reactor wall and protruding into the reactor by a value of 0.02–0.5 of internal diameter D. Ethylene exits the nozzle at an output rate of 10–200 m/s.
EFFECT: technical result is decreased overgrowing of internal parts of the reactor due to an improved ethylene supply system.
