FIELD: polymers.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing an ethylene polymer in the course of suspension polymerisation in a polymerisation reactor or in a cascade of polymerisation reactors. Method for producing an ethylene polymer includes the stages of separating the created suspension of ethylene polymer particles in a solid/liquid separator into wet ethylene polymer particles and a mother solution, transferring part of the mother solution to a recycling section containing an evaporator for obtaining a paraffin-depleted part of the mother solution; a diluent distillation unit producing an extracted diluent from the paraffin-depleted part of the mother solution, and a paraffin removal unit operating by direct distillation with water vapour resulting in gaseous hydrocarbon/a vapour mixture that is condensed and then separated into an aqueous phase and a hydrocarbon phase; wherein at least part of the hydrocarbon phase is transferred to the diluent distillation unit, in addition to the evaporator, in order to obtain a paraffin-depleted part of the mother solution.

EFFECT: method for producing an ethylene polymer in the course of suspension polymerisation, including a stage of recycling a mother solution produced by extracting the prepared ethylene polymer particles from the suspension produced in the course of ethylene polymerisation, not only providing a purified diluent, but also suitable for cost- and energy-efficient execution and able to minimise the amount of evaporated mother solution.
