FIELD: control systems.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the configuration of automation systems. To configure a modular control unit, which includes a central unit and at least one communication module with a corresponding embedded router, router configuration blocks of the first routers detect the available router functions and the related priority values of other routers. First routers have an extended router function for connecting to the upper-level communication network. Second routers have a limited router function to connect to the slave operational-level subnet. If there are other first routers, the router configuration blocks of the first routers check, respectively, based on the priority values, to which first router the highest priority value is associated. First router with the highest priority value is configured as a top-level router.
EFFECT: configurable low cost modular control device.
