FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: inventions relate to biotechnology. Proposed are methods for the detection of a microorganism (options) and a method for quantitative determination of microorganisms contained on or within chewing gum. Said methods involve treating chewing gum of a predetermined shape with ultrasound, precipitating microorganisms in a suspension, which is then in contact with a solid support. It is followed by counting the number of colonies and identifying the microorganisms. To determine the number of microorganisms, a standard curve is built.
EFFECT: invention provides for the extraction and quantitative determination of microorganisms contained on or within chewing gum.
