METHOD OF OBTAINING A PHOTOCATALIZER BASED ON ZINC OXIDE Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC B01J37/34 B01J23/06

Abstract RU 2678983 C1

FIELD: manufacturing technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of nanotechnology for producing photocatalysts for the decomposition of substances that pollute water and air, and can be used in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, as well as in the sewage treatment and air emissions industry. Method of obtaining a photocatalyst based on zinc oxide is to dissolve zinc chloride in an aqueous solution of polyhydric alcohol in the process of hydrothermal processing and the introduction of alkali into the solution, followed by separation of the resulting precipitate of zinc oxide particles by washing and drying, while in an aqueous solution ethylene glycol with a concentration of from 23 to 27 % is contained, in which at a solution temperature from 60 to 80 °C using mechanical stirring from 23 to 27 ml of 2M of aqueous solution of zinc chloride are dissolved, ensuring that its concentration in the solution is from 0.04 to 0.06 mol/liter, after which potassium hydroxide is added at the rate of 40 to 50 grams per liter of solution and while maintaining the temperature, mixing is continued until the potassium hydroxide is completely dissolved from 1 to 3 hours; the mixture is stirred, after which it is cooled down to room temperature in a natural way and is subjected to centrifugation until the particles are completely precipitated.

EFFECT: technical result consists in purifying water from toxic organic pollutants under the action of not only ultraviolet radiation, but also under the action of visible light, while the particles have a size of about ½ mcm, which facilitates their filtering during the water purification process.
