FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for deodorizing, removing the specifically unpleasant odor inherent in light distillates of petroleum (gasoline, kerosene, solvent and products obtained from the processing of petroleum hydrocarbons) and can be used in paint, gas, oil and petrochemical industries. Method for deodorizing light petroleum products by oxidation in the presence of a catalyst is described, moreover, the oxidation is carried out with hydrogen peroxide or ozone, while before oxidation, the oil is washed with chemical water containing 0.3–0.8 % of salts or hydroxides of lead and copper, preferably Pb(OH)2 and Cu(OH)2 or CuCl2 at a ratio of 3:1 mass.
EFFECT: simplifying the technology of deodorizing cleaning of petroleum products, reducing the consumption of reagents and expanding the scope of application of the method of cleaning fuels and solvents to obtain a wide range of environmentally friendly, mostly light, odorless petroleum products.
