SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of biotechnology, in particular to a method for increasing the antigenic mass of Leptospira interrogans cultures, comprising the step of adding a polyunsaturated C18 fatty acid to Leptospira interrogans cultures, said acid being one or more acids selected from the group consisting of linoleic acid, α-linolenic acid and γ-linolenic acid. In addition, a preparation for the producing a vaccine against leptospirosis, its use for the production of a vaccine against leptospirosis, a vaccine against leptospirosis and a method for its production are disclosed. Also disclosed is the use of a compound or composition that is enriched with polyunsaturated C18 fatty acid.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase the antigenic mass of Leptospira interrogans cultures by at least 20 % and to use Leptospira interrogans with a high antigenic mass for the production of a vaccine against leptospirosis.
