FIELD: manufacturing technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to sealing devices. Compression ring for an engine piston comprises an upper side and a lower side, as well as an inner side, located between the upper and lower sides along the inner diameter of the ring. Outer side is located between the upper and lower sides along the outer diameter of the ring, and is formed by a continuous curve extending in the axial direction of the ring. Said continuous curve comprises the first and second convex surfaces connected by a concave surface, wherein each convex surface is formed, respectively, by the first and second radii. Method of manufacturing a piston compression ring comprises machining the outer side of the ring in order to form a profile in the form of a continuous curve extending in the axial direction of the ring, wherein said continuous curve comprises a first convex portion and a second convex portion, connected by an intermediate portion.
EFFECT: invention reduces friction with the wall of the engine cylinder.
