FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: proposed piston ring fitted in piston groove and driven into cylinder liner contains main ring with rectangular section ring groove made on its working surface forming upper and lower beads with end face surfaces of main ring, and antifriction insert fitted in ring groove and fixed from fall in slots made on inner cylindrical surface of main ring at both sides from lock. Antifriction insert is fitted in ring groove to form space between inner surface of insert and bottom of groove. Slots are made in upper bead of main ring. End face clearance is formed between upper end face surface of main ring and wall of piston groove, and behind-the-ring space is formed between inner cylindrical surface of main ring and bottom of piston groove.
EFFECT: improved efficiency of sealing unit owing to higher adaptability of ring to geometry of cylinder liner, increased service life of ring owing to reduced wear of ring and cylinder liner.
