FIELD: valve production.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method and device for determining location of a fluid leak from a pipeline, for example, oil pipelines, heating mains. Method comprises the following steps: excitation of electromagnetic radiation in the pipeline; installation over the proposed passage point of the pipeline at least one block of sensors of electromagnetic field, made in form of two pairs of antennas; measurement of vector orientation of electromagnetic induction and level of electromagnetic field strength; moving at least one electromagnetic field sensor unit above the pipeline to a new measurement point; measurement of the orientation of the vector of electromagnetic induction and level of intensity of electromagnetic field at a new measurement point; repeating moving steps for at least one block of electromagnetic field sensors above pipeline and measuring the orientation of the vector of electromagnetic induction and level of electromagnetic field strength as many times as required; identifying location of the leakage by changing amplitude and/or direction of the vector of electromagnetic induction.
EFFECT: improving accuracy and reliability of identification of leakage location in the pipeline.
