FIELD: control and measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method and a device for monitoring the state of metal pipelines from the surface of the soil above the pipeline. Location of the line on which the centers of the constant magnetic field sensors are located, and a line on which the centers of the alternating magnetic field sensors are located, in parallel and at a small distance from each other in the same housing, significantly simplifies calculations and detection of pipeline metal defects and reduces the number of detected false defects, and due to simultaneous measurement of constant magnetic field gradient components, variable magnetic field value, calculation of depth, deviation from axis of pipeline, current in communication and measurement of potential difference above pipeline enabling increase in the accuracy and reliability of determining the point of the metal defect and the point of the defect of the pipeline insulation.
EFFECT: increased accuracy and reliability of metal pipelines metal defect location from soil surface above pipeline, eliminating the number of false signs of a defect, reducing the time required for searching for defects and reducing the size of the equipment.
