FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology. Invention is a method for increasing the seed production of alfalfa, including the crossing of parental pairs using donors of recessive genes controlling the phenotypic trait-a cauliflower inflorescence with complete male and female sterility, where the fertile form is used as the maternal form – the donor, forming under macrosporogenesis of about 50 % of female gametes containing recessive genes, plants F1 and in the blossoming phase, forms are selected having a paternal color of petals of the corolla, these plants are subjected to natural pollination by insects, after the ripening of the beans determine the seed productivity of each plant and identify the samples with the highest index of this feature, selected plants after cutting, subsequent growth and flowering are subjected to forced self-pollination or transpollination among themselves, from the seeds obtained, plants I1 or F2, in the phase of flowering and fruit formation, only forms with a paternal phenotype are selected, these samples have high seed productivity.
EFFECT: proposed method allows increasing the seed productivity of alfalfa.
