FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: present invention can be used in inorganic chemistry. Preparing the basic-type tin (IV) nitrate Sn(OH)2(NO3)2 is carried out by direct interaction of tin (IV) oxide with nitric acid in a solution of ethyl cellosolve at room temperature under conditions of intensive mechanical stirring. Mixing is carried out in the presence of glass beads as a grinding agent and hydroxylamine hydrochloride, aniline, n-nitroaniline, o-dianisidine, m-phenylenediamine, benzidine, hydrazine sulfate, aniline or benzidine as a stabilizer for the base salt. Oxide of tin (IV) is loaded in an amount of 0.1–0.6 mol/kg in a molar ratio with acid (1:2.02)÷(1:11). Process starts with intensive mechanical mixing, controls the acid consumption, and stops when the indicated expenditure approaches twice the initial molar loading of tin (IV) oxide. Then the stirring is stopped, the separation of the grinding agent and its washing from the remnants of the reaction mixture is carried out. Separated reaction mixture is filtered. Filter cake is washed with washing solvent and air dried to constant weight.

EFFECT: invention allows to simplify the production of basic tin (IV) nitrate with increasing selectivity for the target product.
