SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for breaking by bending and separating the edge portion of a glass plate due to the fact that the pressure member partially presses against the edge portion between the peripheral edge of the glass plate and the cutting line formed on the glass plate. Pressing member moves by sliding or rotating parallel to the upper surface of the glass plate and perpendicular to the cutting line in the direction of the outer edge of the glass plate and presses the edge portion. In this case, the glass plate rests on the supporting element, which in the process of breaking off the edge section moves beyond the cutting line in the direction from the outer edge of the glass plate towards the cutting line. Clamping element can be made in the form of a roller with an axis of rotation located parallel to or almost parallel to the cutting line, or in the form of an elongated in horizontal direction clamping element, the longitudinal direction of which is perpendicular to the direction passing transversely to the marginal portion.
EFFECT: technical result of the invention is the ability to separate a narrow marginal area.
