FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the control of capacitive ignition systems in aircraft engines. Time interval between sequential reservoir capacitor discharge current pulses running to the spark plug, caused solely by switching of power stored at the said capacitor and exceeding the preset check magnitude, is measured. Measured time interval is compared with a predetermined time interval characterizing the allowed minimum repetition rate of spark discharges in the spark gap of the spark plug. Amplitudes of the first and second half-waves of each pulse of the discharge current of the reservoir capacitor, caused by switching the energy stored in the reservoir capacitor exceeding the set reference value, are also measured. Operation of the ignition system is judged by the fact whether the amplitude difference of the first and second half-waves of each pulse of the discharge current of the reservoir capacitor, caused by switching the energy stored in the reservoir capacitor, which exceeds the set reference value, exceeds the reference value of the amplitude difference of the first and second half-waves or not.
EFFECT: technical result consists in increasing the reliability of monitoring the operation of ignition systems without measuring the ambient pressure in the volume in which the working end of the spark plug is placed.
