FIELD: engine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ignition of combustibles by means of electric spark, in particular to capacitive ignition units, and can be used for control of technical state of ignition system installed on engine in intervals between engine starts. Disclosed is method of controlling capacitive ignition unit with induction coil (IC) in ignition system, consisting in that at nominal supply voltage there measured is the time interval between consecutive pulses of discharge current of reservoir capacitor (RC) to spark plug and average value of current consumed by ignition unit at rated supply voltage for period of IC operation, presence of short-term increase of average value of consumed current is monitored at rated supply voltage above mean value of consumed current at rated supply voltage and subsequent increase in current value of time interval between successively following pulses of discharge current RC to spark plug, in addition, checking is carried out at maximum operating supply voltage, during which time interval between successive next pulses of discharge current RC is measured for ignition plug and average value of current consumed by ignition unit, detecting presence of short-term increase of average value of consumed current at maximum operating supply voltage over average value of consumed current at maximum operating voltage of supply and subsequent increase in current value of time interval between successively following pulses of discharge current RC to spark plug, on maintenance of ignition unit serviceability is determined by: absence of short-term increase of average value of consumed current at rated supply voltage above mean value of consumed current at rated voltage of supply and subsequent increase in current value of time interval between successively following pulses of discharge current RC to spark plug and availability of short-term increase of average value of consumed current at maximum operating voltage of supply above mean value of consumed current at maximum operating supply voltage and further increase of current value of time interval between successively following pulses of discharge current RC to ignition plug.
EFFECT: earlier detection of the beginning of processes preceding the sticking of contacts and corresponding failure of the converter, which allows continuing operation of the aircraft.
