FIELD: internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the heating of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle. Method is proposed for controlling engine heating to prevent engine oil from freezing, comprising the following steps: entering (18, 19) data of the engine pre-heating programming in storage device, if the specified data correspond to the sequence of the engine start commands as a sequence of the corresponding start-up time values ({t(i)}i=i, …, 4) in a given time interval, then for at least one start time of the specified sequence, when the current time reaches the start time, (29) current measured value of temperature (T) is received, and, if the obtained temperature value is below the threshold (THR), (23) start is allowed, and if the obtained temperature exceeds this threshold, the start is prohibited.
EFFECT: technical result is to provide a simple and safe control of engine heating.
