FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to aqueous binders for granular and/or fibrous substrates. Method is described for the preparation of an aqueous dispersion of polymer P as a result of the aqueous emulsion polymerization of ethylenically unsaturated compounds initiated by free radicals, which includes the use for polymerization ≥ 0.1 and ≤ 5.0 % by weight of at least one α,β-monoethylene unsaturated monocarboxylic acid with 3–6 carbon atoms (monomers A), ≥ 0.1 and ≤ 10 % by weight of at least one glycidyl acrylate and glycidyl methacrylate (monomers B), ≥ 0.1 and ≤ 5.0 % by weight of at least one vinyl sulfonic acid (monomers C), ≥ 70 and ≤ 95 % by weight of at least one vinyl alcohol ester and monocarboxylic acid with 1–5 carbon atoms (monomers D) and ≥ 0 and ≤ 25 % by weight of at least one alkylacrylate with 1–10 carbon atoms in the alkyl (monomers E), the total number of A-E monomers is 100 % by weight. Aqueous dispersion for use as a binder for granular and/or fibrous substrates, prepared by the above method, is also described. Use of the above polymer dispersion as a binder in the manufacture of adhesive materials, sealing materials, plaster coatings and paint and varnish products is described, as well as when pressing sand, as a component in the preparation of textile or leather aids and impact modifier for modifying mineral binders and plastics.
EFFECT: technical result is the production of aqueous binders for granular and/or fibrous substrates that can do without the use of amines and/or derivatives of amines and which can be used to obtain molded products with high thermal stability.
