SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of ecology, in particular to catalysts for the oxidation of soot and the method for their preparation, since the release of toxic compounds from engines significantly threatens the environment. Invention presents catalysts for the oxidation of carbon black, including metals: bismuth, copper and magnesium, and oxygen, forming magnesium cuprate MgCu4O5, magnesium bismuth Bi12MgO19 and magnesium oxide MgO. As an additional component in the composition of catalysts contains potassium carbonate K2CO3, while the catalyst has the following composition: Bi12MgO19 – MgO – K2CO3 or Bi12MgO19 – Cu4MgO5 – K2CO3. Invention relates to a method for producing a catalyst, in which, after the synthesis of magnesium bismuthite, magnesium cuprate and magnesium oxide, known catalysts Bi12MgO19 – MgO, Bi12MgO19 – Cu4MgO5 mixed with potassium carbonate K2CO3.

EFFECT: technical result is to oxidize the maximum amount of soot with a minimum amount of oxygen and reduce the volume of the catalyst.
