SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of video editing. Computer-implemented method of automatically dividing video into editing frames includes the following: loading a video file; reading frame sizes; reading the GOP length of video file frame groups and determining GOPmax; applying a smoothing algorithm with the interval int = GOPmax; obtaining a new set of bitrate values and determining BRmin and BRmax; setting the threshold for changing the bit rate dBRmax; detection of fragments with the maximum duration, throughout which dBR does not exceed dBRmax; installation of mounting points on the boundaries of the fragments; detection of a video file point with local minimum bit rates, each of which has a lower bitrate value than at all other video file points surrounding a minimum point within the CTmin/2 time radius and a spread of bitrate values above dBRmax; installation of the mounting point at the detected minimum points; creating a list of mounting points with time points.

EFFECT: automatic splitting of a video file into editing frames with correctly located borders without demanding methods of video image analysis.
