FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an electrode for arc melting of metals and can be used for melting metal powders, precision welding of thin-sheet metals and manufacturing parts of complex geometric shapes in shielding gases. Electrode for arc melting of metals contains cylindrical body (1) and is equipped with solenoid (2) made of graphite in the form of a single-row helix. Solenoid is located coaxially to the housing and is connected in series to the electrical circuit of the arc discharge.
EFFECT: technical result consists in the formation of a magnetic field around the arc channel by a solenoid, which compresses the plasma in the radial direction and stabilizes its flow in the axial direction, allowing the welding process to be carried out under controlled conditions.
