FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and system for laminating large surfaces, in particular vertical ones, such as a ship hull and above ground storage tanks. Lamination system comprises a lamination module and a transport module, which is designed with possibility to automatically drive the lamination module over the surface to be laminated. Surface to be laminated is large and substantially fixed. Transport module includes the holding means and the drive. Retention means prevents the lamination module from moving relative to the surface except when moving in the lamination direction is driven. Lamination module includes an unwinding unit adapted to receive a laminate roll. Laminate contains an adhesive film and a first release layer. Unwinding unit is adapted for unwinding laminate from a roll. There is a node for removing the first release layer from the laminate. Lamination module includes a first hold-down assembly, which is designed with possibility to press the laminate against the surface. Retaining means is adapted to counteract the pressing force applied by the first pressing unit and acting in the direction of movement of the lamination module from the surface to be laminated. When the transporting module automatically drives the lamination module over the surface, the pressing unit presses the film to the surface.
EFFECT: invention provides a system and method for laminating a surface with a laminate having anti-fouling properties, by means of which a surface having reduced irregularities with reduced cavities is laminated.
