SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for picking up and placing tyre components, comprising the steps of picking up supplied first tyre component (91) with transfer drum (5), rotating the transfer drum in first circular direction (R1) for winding a predetermined length of the continuous length of the first tyre component, rotating the transfer drum in opposite second circular direction (R2), while at the same time moving transfer drum (5) downstream, wherein a part of the predetermined length of the first tyre component is unwound from the transfer drum, cutting the unwound part, thereby obtaining a cut-to-length first tyre component, and rotating the transfer drum again in first direction (R1) for winding up the unwound part of the cut-to-length first tyre component up to the trailing end.
EFFECT: invention prevents offset of the position of tyre components during picking and placement.
