SUBSTANCE: use: for detection of prohibited substances. Summary of invention consists in the fact that automatic detection of swallowed capsules on images obtained by means of an X-ray scanner, performing the following steps: obtaining an initial image of a person passing through the scanner; generating additional images based on the original image by converting the original image; determining position of torso on initial image; calculating abdominal area on torso on both source and additional images; abdominal segments are classified on an initial image; calculating geometrical and density features, as well as rotationally invariable periodical features for abdominal areas; detect suspicious areas in abdominal region; calculating aggregate features of properties of suspicious areas; reference images are used, on which there are no swallowed capsules, for classification of the initial image by means of a threshold value of the function of the unlike; informing the user that on the initial image there are swallowed capsules, if the function value of the unlike the composite features of the initial image is higher than or equal to the specified threshold value.

EFFECT: technical result is providing the possibility of obtaining a faster result compared to visual analysis performed by a person (operator), as well as providing a stable level of detection accuracy.
