FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in electric engineering for protection of transformer with transformer with 2n secondary windings and 2n rectifiers against short circuits. Protection method of converter unit with transformer with 2n secondary windings and 2n rectifiers consists in that inductions of magnetic fluxes are measured near buses connecting with 2n rectifiers outputs 2n of secondary windings of transformer on side of its lower voltage, converting them into voltages, phase-shifted voltage obtained during conversion of inductions of magnetic fluxes measured near buses connecting with n rectifiers outputs n secondary windings of transformer, connected in star, is subtracted from voltage obtained during conversion of magnetic flux induction, measured near bus connected to secondary winding of transformer, connected in star, voltage obtained during conversion of magnetic flux induction, measured near tire of same phase connected to secondary winding of transformer connected in triangle, this voltage difference is compared to reference value of voltage and if this voltage difference exceeds the reference voltage value, a signal is sent to disconnect the converter unit from the network.

EFFECT: technical result is increase of protection sensitivity of converter plant.
