SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means of checking valuable document of specified type of valuable document. In the method, an ultrasonic data unit is recorded, which with spatial resolution describes at least one ultrasonic property of the valuable document, mainly ultrasound transmission, deviation data unit is determined, which with spatial resolution describes the deviation between the ultrasonic data unit and the model and is defined so that described by it deviation relative to model is minimum, wherein model includes model for spatial dependence of at least one ultrasonic property of reference valuable documents of specified type of valuable document without irregularities of at least one given type, and using the deviation data unit, checking whether there is indication of irregularity of at least one given type on the value document.
EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of reliability of checking valuable documents for the presence of at least one irregularity of at least one given type, for example irregularities in the form of at least one adhesion, mainly adhesive tape, and / or at least one crease and / or removal of material.
