FIELD: non-destructive inspection.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the nondestructive inspection and can be used for the ammunition external metal surface damage determining, formed by curvilinear surfaces (cylindrical, trapezoidal, etc.) in the complex non-symmetric shaped ammunition elements by corrosion (rust). Claimed method of the corrosion depth and area determination on the ammunition external surface and its elements consists in fact, that onto the analyzed surface directing the light beam at angle from 30 to 60° to the analyzed region outer surface. Reflected flow is fixed by the digital camera matrix and is characterized by the corrosion surface reflection coefficient, wherein subjected in various degrees to corrosion steel surfaces have different light flux reflection coefficients and the corresponding wavelength values, and then establishing the light signal reflection coefficient and affected by corrosion surface roughness height dependence on the wavelength value. During the section with another color and the roughness (by another quality of corrosion) boundary crossing, the digital method enables to record the investigated corrosion spot on the ammunition metal surface length and area, corrosion level by height and area is characterized by the surface roughness value by two values Rz, Ra and the colors palette determined by the reflected beam wavelength.
EFFECT: increase in the controlled surfaces measurement accuracy and range expansion due to the possibility of ammunition or its elements surface measuring.
