SUBSTANCE: invention relates to transporting devices. Transporting device for lifting/lowering of containers comprises pairs of auxiliary movable bases (pairs 30a and 30b, as well as pairs 31a and 31b), capable of moving closer to each other and further from each other in Y-direction and mounted on a pair of main movable bases (21a and 21b) for moving closer to each other and further from each other in the X-direction. Four gripping lifting/lowering elements (45a-46b) are separately supported by four auxiliary moving bases for lifting and lowering. Vertical rod-shaped main elements (66) are supported by corresponding main movable bases for lifting and lowering, which are raised and lowered due to actuation of the lifting/lowering drive means, and are arranged in intermediate positions between Y-direction gripping lifting/lowering bodies arranged in Y-direction. Upper end sections of vertical rod-like main elements (66) and upper end portions of gripping lifting/lowering elements on both sides of vertical rod-like main elements (66) in Y-direction are connected by means of connecting means (51A and 51B), connection means allow gripping lifting/lowering elements to move closer to each other and further from each other in Y-direction.
