CONVERTING DEVICE AND METHOD FOR ITS PROTECTION AGAINST SHORT CIRCUIT Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC H02M7/483

Abstract RU 2683956 C1

FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering, in particular to converter device (1), and is intended to increase the reliability of its operation by improving the protection of the converter device against a short circuit. Converter device comprises first branch (8) of a phase module with first series circuit of bipolar submodules (14), which include, respectively, at least one energy storage device and at least one power semiconductor switch, moreover, the first branch of the phase module passes between first output (2) of the alternating voltage and first pole (51) of the constant voltage, second branch (9) of the phase module with a second series circuit of the bipolar submodules, which runs between the first output of the alternating voltage and second pole (61) of constant voltage, third branch (10) of the phase module with a third series circuit of bipolar submodules, which passes between the second output of the alternating voltage and the first pole of the constant voltage, and fourth branch (11) of the phase module with a fourth series circuit of a bipolar submodule, which passes between the second alternating output and the second pole of direct voltage, each submodule can be bridged by means of shunt unit (33) located parallel to its connecting terminals irrespective of the direction of the current, and wherein first pole (51) of the constant voltage is connected to the first constant voltage output (5) and second pole (61) of the constant voltage is connected to second output (6) of the constant voltage.

EFFECT: invention is characterized by constant voltage switch (16) which is located between one of the constant voltage poles and the corresponding constant voltage terminal, and free-wheeling circuit (22) that passes between the two constant voltage terminals and contains a semiconductor element with the direction of locking and transmission.
