FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of radiation detectors. In particular, the invention relates to a radiation detector for an X-ray imaging system. Radiation detector (100) is made with scintillator (102), photosensor (104) and electronic module (108). Electronic module (108) has current-to-frequency converter (110) with charge integrator (112) for generating a pulse signal with a frequency correlating with the charge generated by photosensor (104) during the measurement cycle. Electronic module (108) further comprises current source (120) for generating a frequency offset of the pulse signal, interrupting the device for interrupting charge integration by charge integrator (112) and logic module (124) for determining the frequency of the pulse signal. At that logic module (124) is configured to determine the off state of the radiation source and start the interrupting device to determine the off state of the radiation source.
EFFECT: improved noise characteristics of the radiation detector and X-ray imaging system.
