SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the machine building. Friction damper includes housing (2) with longitudinal axis (3), plunger (4), friction block (24) for creating a friction force applied to plunger. Friction block contains at least one friction lining (25) and holder (26) of the friction lining. Holder is configured to hold at least one friction lining and to move within the housing relative to the plunger between the extended position and the retracted position. Holder is located inside the housing with the possibility of rotation around axis (15), oriented across the longitudinal axis of the housing.

EFFECT: different value of the friction force is achieved during the compression and rebound.
