SUBSTANCE: invention relates to switchable damper 1, which comprises housing 2 having longitudinal axis 3, plunger 4 configured to move along said longitudinal axis 3, piston 20, located between said housing 2 and plunger 4, friction pad 21 located on said piston 20, and switching unit 23, switched between blocking state, in which piston 20 is blocked from movement along longitudinal axis 3, and state of free movement, in which for piston 20 it is possible to move along longitudinal axis 3. Friction pad 21 is located on said piston 20 and comprises an area, which it is brought into direct contact with end surfaces of longitudinal cover ribs 16 or base lengthwise ribs 18 and serves as limiting buffer.
EFFECT: creation of shock absorber with improved operating characteristics, in particular, manufacture and (or) operation of which would not be complicated.
