FIELD: mining.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mining and can be used to control the stability of pit walls, dumps and various bulk structures of frozen rocks. Method for assessing the stability of pit walls, dumps and bulk structures of frozen rocks includes a breakdown of the observed object into blocks, calculation of its stability with the definition of the zone of possible collapse, sampling of the rocks forming the object of observation and their laboratory tests, observation of changes in the properties of these rocks in the places of the most probable collapse using sensors and comparing them with given critical values determined from the test results. Conduct continuous measurements of the temperature of the rocks inside the observation object at the same points where the samples were taken for testing, and carry out the calculation of the current factor of stability with regard to changes in the properties of rocks that make up the observed object, depending on their temperature on the basis of data obtained earlier in the course of laboratory tests of these samples.

EFFECT: technical result consists in increasing the reliability of assessing the sustainability of these objects, ensuring prediction of changes in their condition and durability, which is an urgent task, especially in areas of permafrost.
