FIELD: mining industry; applicable in finish opencast mining of deposits with steeply dipping ore bodies. SUBSTANCE: method includes division of opencast field into stages, level extraction of rock, removal of mineral reserves located beyond opencast contour by changing opencast flank. At last stage of deposit mining, cohesion value is determined by formula Km= 100-1•(L+10)•λ•Kl,, where Km is value of rock cohesion in solid mass; t/sq. m; 100 is empirical coefficient; L is mean distance from opencast flank to possible surface of sliding in formation of landslide, m; λ is coefficient of structure weakening; Kl is value of cohesion in lump, t/sq.m. Then, stable angle of flank reclamation and boundaries of new contour of opencast are determined and deposit is mined according to selected technology. EFFECT: increased recovery of mineral from opencast due to extraction of reserves beyond opencast contour and reduced scope of stripping operations. 1 dwg, 1 ex
