FIELD: vehicle equipment and accessories.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to variants of the housing of an airbag and the instrument panel of a vehicle. Said airbag housing built into the instrument panel includes a chute defining the top perimeter with the first wall extending from the top perimeter, and a lid extending over the chute entirely from the top edge. Said lid defines a rupture stitch extending between opposite portions of the upper perimeter remotely from the first wall, and a hinge region extending between the opposite portions of the upper perimeter and located between the first wall and the rupture stitch, as well as a rigid region that is in contact with the first wall, a plurality of supporting ribs extending away from the first wall at least within the rigid region, and a hinge region, which is defined by a reduced material thickness and contains corresponding gaps in the support ribs, generally aligned along the hinge region along at least a portion of the lid. Said hinge region is located towards the inner space of the chute, is in contact with the rigid region and passes between opposite portions of the upper perimeter.
EFFECT: it is possible to maximize the movement of the door in the instrument panel to deploy the airbag with minimal obstruction to it.
