FIELD: automotive industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to safety air-cushion module. In compliance with the first version, proposed module comprises air cushion, casing with clamping neck made from flexible material, for example, fabric. In compliance with the second version, module comprises safety air-cushion inflator that generates gas to fill air cushion in response to activation signal, air cushion, and casing attached inside car instrumentation panel that houses said inflator and air cushion. In compliance with the third version, proposed module comprises air cushion inflator, air cushion and casing with outer wall made integral with air cushion section. Method of protecting passenger comprises transmitting activation signal, passing gas through flexible-material casing into air cushion via clamping neck. Method of making module comprises mounting airflow diffuser in through the first opening so that it seats inside air cushion area, wrapping casing section about air cushion inflator to hold inflator in place, and fitting air cushion inside its seat.
EFFECT: reduced weight.
