FIELD: hydro acoustics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of hydro acoustics, namely to passive noise-seeking stations intended for search and detection of underwater and surface objects. Technical result is achieved by the fact that in addition to known classification characteristics (CC) noise of artificial origin (submarines, underwater vehicles, surface ships, torpedoes), characteristic CC noise of natural origin, through which the classification of noise is carried out. Note here that relative noise of natural origin is used to measure relative width of signal spectrum from noise source relative to working range of noise-free-direction-finding station, magnitude of root-mean-square fluctuation of signal spectrum from noise source and value of root-mean-square fluctuation of bearing of noise source.
EFFECT: ensuring reliability of classifying targets into "natural noise" and "noise of artificial origin" classes.
