Method for responding to a detected fall, comprising determining which of two or more actions should be performed in response to detecting a user’s fall based on the user profile and/or user preferences, and/or the circumstances of the detected fall, wherein the determination of which of two or more actions should be performed includes determining whether to ignore the cancellation period and initiate a call or request assistance for the user instead of waiting for the cancellation period to expire or waiting for the cancellation period to expire before initiating the next action, wherein user preference comprises indication of a given duration of the cancellation period after detecting a fall before requesting assistance for the user or initiating a call; and performing a specific action.

EFFECT: individual adjustment or correction of the action after the detected fall in accordance with the user profile, and/or user preferences, and/or the circumstances of the detected fall.
