FIELD: aerosol generating devices.
SUBSTANCE: inventions group relates to a fall response method for an aerosol generating device, an aerosol generating device and a non-volatile computer-readable data carrier. The response procedure for the aerosol generating device includes detecting a fall or impact with at least one acceleration value and initiating at least one response procedure with the controller. The acceleration values are provided by at least one accelerometer connected to the aerosol generating device. Response procedures may include at least one of the following: initiating a mechanical change in an aerosol generating device, initiating a modification to an external device interface, generating a human-perceptible beacon, storing drop or impact related data in permanent or non-volatile memory, initiating a diagnostic procedure, monitoring lost device status and initiating a soft shutdown or restart.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to determine the location of the aerosol generating device after a fall in case of loss of the device, to simplify maintenance of the aerosol generating device in case of damage to the device.
