FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to application of coatings on metal surfaces using concentrated energy flows and is aimed at formation of titanium-based implants of niobium-based coatings. Method includes electrical explosion of niobium foil with weight of 50–500 mg, formation of explosion-like multiphase plasma jet from products of explosion, its fusion with surface of titanium implant at absorbed power density of 1.5–1.8 GW/m2, deposition on the surface of the explosion products and formation of a niobium-based bioinert coating on the surface. Method can be used in medical equipment, traumatology and orthopedics for application of niobium-based bioinert coatings with high adhesion.
EFFECT: disclosed method enables to form a surface layer with high adhesion of the coating with a substrate of titanium, low roughness and a homogenised structure, which increases service life of the implants, broadens the field of practical application.
