FIELD: physics; chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to application of coatings on metal surfaces using concentrated energy flows and discloses a method for applying bioinertic hafnium coatings modified with nitrogen ions on titanium implants. Method includes electric explosion of hafnium foil with weight of 100–600 mg, generation of explosion multiphase plasma jet from explosion products, its fusion of the surface of the titanium implant with absorbed power density of 1.5–1.8 GW/m2, deposition on the surface of the explosion products, formation of a bio-inertial hafnium coating on the surface, nitriding for 3–5 hours at 500–600 °C and subsequent periodic pulsed electron-beam treatment of the surface coating when the absorbed energy density of 20–40 J/cm2, a pulse duration of 150–200 microseconds and amount of 3–5 pulses. Method enables to form a surface layer with high adhesion of the coating, low roughness, a homogenised structure and antibacterial activity, which increases the service life of the implants.
EFFECT: invention can be used in medical equipment, traumatology and orthopaedics.
